Cities and towns in Seacoast New Hampshire and southern Maine have announced plans for fireworks and other celebrations to honor Independence Day. Below is an alphabetical list of each community's events:

Brentwood

The Brentwood Recreation Department is hosting a Fourth of July family parade on Thursday, July 4. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Brentwood Highway Shed, 207 Middle Road and ends at Swasey Elementary, 355 Middle Road.

Dover

The City of Dover will launch its annual fireworks display from Garrison Hill on Saturday, July 6, at dusk. Please note the change from launching the fireworks on the Fourth of July. The Visitor Band of NH will play at Henry Law Park from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, as part of the city’s Fourth of July festivities.

Exeter

The 34th American Independence Festival will be on Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Exeter. Admission is free. Witness the arrival of the Declaration and a live reading. The festival includes 18th century artisans practicing traditional skills and crafts, colonial games, dance and music. You can also visit the American Independence Museum galleries and historic tavern, talk with George Washington, Ona Judge, Mum Bett, and people of the past and drink a local brew in the beer garden. Fireworks will follow at Swasey Parkway at dusk.

Hampton Beach

Celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m., with a special fireworks shoot at Hampton Beach. Fireworks are held on the beach beside the Atlantic Ocean, between B and C Streets, 169 Ocean Boulevard. Bring a blanket and the whole family to experience the magic of the night sky lit by a display of beautiful fireworks.No rain date.

Kennebunk, Maine

A traditionalfireworks displaywill be held on Thursday, July 4 at 9 p.m. at Gooch's Beach.

Milton Mills

The Annual Best Littlest Parade in the USA, featuring the Goat in the Boat takes place Thursday, July 4, at 9 a.m. The parade starts at the Milton Free Public Library, 13 Main St., Milton Mills. Prizes will be given for: Best Float, Most Festive Children's Costume, Best Pet, and Best Decorated Vehicle. Judges will be Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Nute.

Ogunquit, Maine

Join us in celebrating Independence Day with fireworks at Ogunquit Beach on Thursday, July 4. Great views from the entire beach, from Main Beach to Footbridge Beach, North Beach and beyond. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. The Main Beach parking lot will be closing at 4 p.m. that day to allow for the safe set-up of pyrotechnics. The rain date is July 5.

Portsmouth

Portsmouth Fireworks

The City of Portsmouth presents the annual fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3, at South Mill Pond (across from Portsmouth City Hall). This celebration is an alcohol-free, family-friendly event. The rain date is Friday, July 5. The celebration starts at Leary Field with the music and game zone from 7 to 9 p.m., including lawn games, a DJ, and roaming performers on Parrott and Junkins Avenues. At 9 p.m. the National Anthem will be sung by Crystal Taber. At 9:15 p.m., the Independence Day fireworks begin.

Portsmouth Police Chief Mark Newport is invoking his “Emergency Powers” and orders no parking will be permitted starting at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, in preparation for and during the fireworks display on the following streets:Parrott Avenue, Junkins Avenue, Mt. Vernon Street, Pleasant Street, Richmond Street, Livermore Street,Wentworth Street, Melcher Street, Whidden Street, Rogers Street, Edward Street, Franklin Street, Pickering Street, Hunking Street, Gardner Street, Howard Street, Elwyn Avenue, Sherburne Avenue, Rockland Street, Kent Street, Richards Avenue, Gates Street, South Street from Miller Avenue to Marcy Street, and West side of Market Street from Deer Street to Russell Street.

The South Mill Pond dog park will close starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 for staging of the fireworks. The South Mill Pond tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, playground areas, and baseball areas will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3 to allow for fireworks setup. The playground parking lot on Junkins Avenue will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on July 3 and cars remaining in the lot will be towed at 10 a.m., due to the proximity of fireworks operations. Vehicles parked on Parrott Avenue between Richards Avenue to Junkins Avenue will be towed beginning at noon on July 3. Parrott Avenue will be closed to vehicles starting at 7 p.m. and Junkins Avenue will be closed to vehicles at 8 p.m.

A limited amount of ADA-accessible parking will be available in the Public Library lot on Parrott Avenue. The Foundry Garage will charge a $5 pre-pay fee on entry, and the Hanover Parking Garage will charge a $10 pre-pay fee on entry. To take advantage of this pre-pay rate, individuals must arrive at the garages between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.

Strawbery Banke Museum celebrates U.S. Naturalization Ceremony

Strawbery Banke Museum, in partnership with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, will hold a U.S. Naturalization Ceremony on Thursday, July 4, at 10 a.m. This event, celebrating Independence Day, will take place on the museum grounds and is open to the public free of charge. Rochester

The Lilac Family Fun Festival and Fireworks will take place at Spaulding High School and the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center onSaturday, July 13 from 4 to 9 p.m. (Rain date Sunday, July 14 from 4 to 9 p.m.) There will be free kiddie carnival rides for young children, games, food trucks, local vendors, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment. Please, no outside fireworks or sparklers. Service pets only. Parking is limited. Considerparking your cardowntown and walk (if you're able)or utilize the shuttle service.

Rye

Rye Recreation invites you to celebrate the Fourth of July on Sunday, June 30 at 4 p.m. at Parsons Field. There will be live music, magic, games, character meet and greet, food truck, a photo booth and fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. This is a free event. Sanford, Maine

Join the Sanford Parks and Rec in celebrating the Fourth of July. On Wednesday, July 3, there will be a block party at Number One Pond with vendors, a water ski show and fireworks starting at 4 p.m. On Thursday, July 4, there will be a parade down Main Street starting at 10 a.m. at Malcolm Ave. and ending at GowenPark.

York, Maine

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a colorful fireworks display at Ellis Short Sands Park on Thursday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m. Arrive early for parking. Parking is metered. Fourth of July will also feature fun events and entertainment on Long Sands Beach. A dance party will be held with music near the Long Sands bathhouse on July 4 led by one of the Parks and Recreation Department’s dance instructors. The next night, July 5, the 195th Army Band will perform in front of the Long Sands Bathhouse.
